While doing research on the History of Oxford, Michigan, historians Al and David Eicher, found evidence of an Orphan Train coming to Michigan. Starting in 1854 to 1927 approximately 12,500 orphans were placed in Michigan, many coming from the New York Children’s Aid Society. The Sanilac County Historic Society will host a lecture on the Orphan Train, it’s riders and history on Sunday June 3rd, at Village Church at Sanilac’s Historic Village and Museum.
