For 2019, it was a fantastic year for the Fort Gratiot Little League despite the rain soaked season. FGLL had 417 baseball and softball players that ranged in age from 4 yrs – 16 yrs. In district play, the 14 and under team was the runner-up. The team lost in the championship game to a very strong Cros-Lex team. However, that 14 and under team from Fort Gratiot still qualified to go to the State tournament in Kalamazoo which starts today. 12 and under Major League director Ron Kaski said, “The majors had a very fun season, capped by a highly surprising playoff series. The Yankees were the runaway winners during the regular season, with a 10-2 record. The regular season runners -up were the Tigers, The playoffs capped a special season, showing that anything can happen in baseball. In the first round, the Red Sox, having won only 2 games all year, crushed the mighty Yankees. Similarly, the Mariners turned the Tiger bats ice cold, shutting them out. In the final game, the Red Sox ended the season as Playoff Champs.”
