The Port Huron Mayor and City Council authorized a budget amendment for $120,000 to remove 120 dangerous trees throughout the City of Port Huron. Over the last decade, the City has faced severe storms and tree diseases that created a backlog of dangerous trees and limbs that need to be removed. The City Forestry Division will continue to trim and maintain the more than 25,000 City-owned trees, located along more than 127 miles of roads, easements, and boulevards within the City. The City also maintains tree stock in all 23 City parks and 124-acre Cemetery. In Spring 2019 the city plans on making an aggressive tree replacement program to ensure a healthy and diverse City tree stock.
