School may be out, but the summer is the best time for reading. The St. Clair County Library System wants every child or teen under the age of 18 to use the library over the summer. To encourage kids, the library is running a Read Down Your Library Fines initiative through Saturday, August 17th to coincide with the Summer Reading program. The process is simple. Read any print media such as books, magazines or newspapers for 30 minutes and get $1 taken off your fines. E-books and listening to audiobooks also qualify. There are no limits to how much you can read, what or where you read. This reading also qualifies towards the St. Clair County Library’s Summer Reading Program requirements which could result in prizes for those entered in Summer Reading. Visit their website or your local branch for more details.
