Sheriff Tim Donnellon has appointed Matthew Paulus as the new Undersheriff for St. Clair County, replacing the retired Tom Buckley. Paulus was sworn in by Sheriff Donnellon at a recent ceremony at the Sheriff’s Office. Paulus previously worked for over 30 years at the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. He began his career in December of 1986 as a road patrol deputy. Over the years, he worked in several different divisions within the department, including secondary road traffic, school resource deputy, Special Response Team, and Drug Task Force. Paulus also worked his way through the ranks, retiring as a captain in January of 2017. Buckley retired as Undersheriff on December 1st to pursue a position with the Michigan Gaming Commission.
