The Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Port Huron and it’s staff will be honored for an award on September 5th at the Detroit Opera House by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Along with 42 other winners the Doubletree was notified recently that in the category of Corporate Community Leader they will be honored. In addition to the corporate and business categories, individuals and nonprofit organizations were also recognized. Each was selected for their commitment to volunteerism, service or philanthropy. The Doubletree, formerly the Thomas Edison Inn, was refurbished in 2015 as the St. Clair County Convention Center was being constructed and attached at the north side of the hotel. Amber Burch, General Manager for the Doubletree said, “This award is a special one for our team as Marci Fogal, Blue Water Convention and Visitors Bureau along with Thelma Castillo, Blue Water Chamber of Commerce wrote letters on our behalf about our involvement in the Blue Water Area. Our team is honored to win this award and we will continue to give back to our community and strive to make Port Huron a great place”. Other honorees in the corporate category were BASF, DTE, Bosch, Spectrum Health, and Trinseo.
