St. Clair County RESA is ending its bottle cap collection effort as of January 31st after generous donors provided enough hard plastic tops for a bench at Woodland Developmental Center, and two other benches to be placed elsewhere. RESA Superintendent Dr. Kevin Miller said, “The response from staff and the public has been literally overwhelming — and highly gratifying.” He also added, “They’ve accomplished their original goal and far more with the drive, and it’s time to move on to other opportunities.” Although RESA will no longer collect caps after the end of the month, Miller said RESA will help any school PTA or community agency in putting together their own campaign using the plastic caps.
