This Fourth of July holiday, the Michigan Department of Transportation is removing lane restrictions on about two-thirds of its road and bridge projects statewide to ease traffic delays for holiday travelers. AAA Michigan estimates more than 1.6 million people from Michigan are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home during the days surrounding the Fourth of July holiday, a 5.5 percent increase from the 2017 holiday. Beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, and continuing until 6 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 86 out of 131 projects statewide will have lane restrictions removed.
