The office of Community Oriented Policing Services has approved a $24,941 grant under the COP STOP School Violence: School Violence Prevention program to the Port Huron Police Department. The federal funds are awarded over a two year period to enhance school safety for Port Huron Schools. In March 2018, the Port Huron Police Department and Port Huron School District agreed on a 3 year pilot program for two Resource Officers to be assigned to both Port Huron high schools. The grant funds will be used for training, equipment, and membership to the National Association of School Resource Officers.
