Cailin Williams- Algonac alive is hosting this year’s Pierogi Fest in honor of National Pierogi Day to bring cultural food to our community.
Denice Gerstenberg- Algonac alive is a 501c3 that was started in 2019 to provide community events that are free for the public so we have a couple of Signature Events um we have the National Night Out Touch a Truck Event which is in August we have um a hall we have a Halloween in the “Nac” event and Pierogi Fest pierogi Fest is actually our biggest fundraiser so I am the Secretary of Algonac nek alive and I’m also the person that tries to do as much marketing as I can for most of the events by making the Flyers and the tickets I can tell you that you’re going to have a lot of delicious food from the Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck three different kinds of Pierogi uh cucumbers and sour cream with dill.
Michael Bembas- This event is an Algonac alive event, and we do it because we love Polish food. Number one, uh, number one, uh, number two, it’s a good way to get the community together. People love coming out to this and just celebrating our friendship with everyone. My favorite part of this event is the quality Polish food. Um, all the food comes straight from Hamtramck, uh, the best Polish food this side of Warsaw. After that, is just meeting up with people who I may not have seen in a few weeks or months or whatever and saying Hey, how are you and and uh, you know that camaraderie with our city in the area this is located. Algonac VFW It’s usually the first week in October um October I believe it’s October 8th, but we like to do it during the week because people get busy during the weekend.
Rocky Gillis- 2019 was our first year, and we had to stop at 2020 for the pandemic, so then we did pick it back up, and this will be our fourth one. We started it in 2019 because we wanted to bring cultural food to Elan, so what we do is we cater it from Polish Village Cafe and Hamtramck. We have Polish dancers coming later. We stream Polish music throughout the whole event and try to make it a Polish-themed event. So you can follow us on our Facebook page or our website, Algonacalive.com.
Cailin Williams- Don’t miss your chance on fun Polish dancing music and food next year for Thumb Coast TV. I’m Cailin Williams.
