As we are now in the election season in Michigan, Fort Gratiot wants to make sure that voters know what to do before they head out to the polls, which are open from 7 am to 8 pm. Ballots may be double sided so be sure to check the back. The partisan section is marked at the top and in a primary, you cannot split your ticket or straight party vote-you must choose one party section and vote only within that column. The far right column of the ballot is the non-partisan proposal section. This section can be voted regardless of party selection. General elections allow straight ticket and cross-party voting. For absentee voting, the process is easy and is the same for every election. Simply sign and return an application for each election and you’ll be mailed a ballot.
