Things could soon look different for students and parents in the East China school district. Declining enrollment is a challenge East China School District has been facing for the past 17 years, so the district is trying to strategically look ahead. Currently, East China Schools operates ten school buildings including the early childhood classrooms located at the school district’s central office. In recent months, the district has been discussing the impact the decline has taken on programs both in the areas of extracurricular activities and class offerings with a district bond steering committee. The committee met last month to discuss different ideas to address challenges including the possible consolidation of current school buildings, renovations and/or building new structures. The next committee meeting is set for September 13.
