The Michigan State Waterways Commission is responsible for the acquisition, construction, and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, and administration of commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac. This week the Michigan State Waterways Commission\u2019s proposed a \u201ckayak tax,\u201d which would require all kayaks, canoes and paddle boards to be registered with the state. State Representative Shane Hernandez voted for a resolution opposing the kayak tax.
