The Buddy Walk supports St. Clair County families financially and through education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.semcoenergygas.com\/\">Sponsored by SEMCO Energy<\/a>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transcription:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alyssa Paynter- This one-mile walk is being put on by the Saint Clair County Down syndrome group, starting at Pine Grove Park. This event highlights inclusion and togetherness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shayne Mccallom- I&#8217;m talking about my friends, my family, and my wonderful pastors, and God wants to keep the people of God. My favorite part is um when people show up when people want to come, and it&#8217;s also loving uh when people show up just um we&#8217;re having fun and awesome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamie Manning- This event is the Buddy Walk that we do annually on the last Saturday of September every year. um just to bring awareness to people and individuals with Down syndrome, we do a Fifty Fifty, we do raffle baskets, and we sell raffle tickets. Whatever money we do raise does stay right here in Sinclair County it goes to all the individuals and their families in the Sinclair County area um that have Down syndrome. What is your favorite part of the walk? Probably all your friends? All of his friends and seeing all the people that come out to support him. He loves it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PJ Mcculloch- This is an annual event we hold to raise awareness, acceptance, and understanding about people with Down syndrome. Because a lot of people interact with them or see them but don&#8217;t really understand, this is also their chance to get out, get some exercise their families to come out and enjoy a nice day in the park. and it&#8217;s also our only fundraiser. My son Bane is nine he has Down syndrome. This group was there from the very beginning. We started with them when he was a month old, and they were really supportive and they helped provide a lot of information that I wouldn&#8217;t have gotten anywhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ethan Jones- We do a lot of volunteer work, so we do things like this buddy walk and the Halloween show that they&#8217;re going to do at Sanborn. um we help out when soup kitchens when we&#8217;re needed we just help around the community where it&#8217;s needed and where we can be, and it&#8217;s a lot of fun while we do it. We get to have fun and be as helpful as we are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carson Nickels- Helping our community is something that the younger generation needs to help with a lot because, with social media and, uh, quarantine, people didn&#8217;t go out as much and people don&#8217;t know a lot about the community, so I feel that giving back to our community is really beneficial for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alyssa Paynter- This annual buddy walk takes place on the last Saturday of September.
