The City of Port Huron has announced through a press release, measures that are being put in place with the announcement of COVID-19 and Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s declaration of a State of Emergency. According to City Manager James Freed, “There is no intention on our part to overreact to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). However, it\u2019s incumbent upon your local officials to plan for the potential community transmission of COVID-19 and to take the necessary precautions to protect our residents and staff, and to take the necessary actions to slow the transmission of this virus.”
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Freed, at the recommendation of the St Clair County Health Department, Whitmer\u2019s Emergency Declaration and local public safety officials, the City of Port Huron is limiting certain operations to “mitigate risks of the COVID-19 virus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following operational changes will it be effect until April 15th, 2020, when at that time we will reassess any potential changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. All City Residents are discouraged from conducting business within the Municipal Office
    Center that can otherwise be conducted via U.S. Mail, Drive-Thru Window or online atwww.PortHuron.org. City night drop-box will be processed continually. Elderly and at risk populations should avoid the Municipal Office Center.<\/li>
  2. McMorran Civic Theatre and Arena events with over 100 people in expected attendance
    are canceled.<\/li>
  3. Palmer Park Community Center events are canceled.<\/li>
  4. Police and Fire Operations are coordinating response plans for potential COVID 19
    contact with emergency response agencies and healthcare agencies from across the
    County.<\/li>
  5. Rental Inspection operations will temporarily pause.<\/li>
  6. Cemetery and Forestry Divisions have suspended in-person services.<\/li>
  7. Convention & Visitors Bureau support of Pub Crawl is canceled. The Parade scheduled
    for March 14th is canceled. Health officials discourage people from participating.<\/li>
  8. City Administration will be taking measures to afford paid sick time to employees whom
    may become exposed to COVID-19. All City personnel will err on the side of caution.<\/li>
  9. Scheduled water meter appointments entering private property will be paused<\/li>
  10. Recycling bins will only be available at 1812 Bancroft Street. Currently they are available at the MOC in the Clerk\u2019s Office and the Engineering Office. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    According to the press release, “Mitigation Measures have been reviewed and endorsed by the Director of the St. Clair County Health Department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
