{"id":26481,"date":"2020-02-03T09:13:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-03T14:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebw.tv\/?p=26481"},"modified":"2020-02-19T09:08:09","modified_gmt":"2020-02-19T14:08:09","slug":"fogcutter-building-avoided-eviction-for-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thumbcoast.tv\/fogcutter-building-avoided-eviction-for-now\/","title":{"rendered":"Fogcutter Building Avoided Eviction For Now"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tenants located in the building at 511 Fort Street in Port Huron, known to many as the former Fogcutter, have avoided eviction, but officials say \u201cother issues could arise in the near future.\u201d According to a letter tenants received from the City\u2019s fire marshall, it was confirmed that the fire alarm, primary fire suppression system and fire pump are all in operable condition at this time, but \u201cdeficiencies\u201d are still present that will require attention to bring operations to \u201csatisfy adopted fire code.\u201d A full building inspection is scheduled for February 18, according to the letter. The building was in danger of being shuttered by the City of Port Huron. The building was deemed unsafe to occupy due to fire alarms being non-operational. Fire suppression systems found to be uncertifiable and unable to be verified, according to City Manager, James Freed. The owner of the building had until January 31 to address and correct the problems or the building would have been considered uninhabitable due to the safety concerns.
