The 3rd annual Victory Day has been set for August 11. Victory Day, an afternoon of education, inspiration, and fun on the gridiron, is geared towards children with special needs. Participants are provided with a full \u201cgame day experience\u201d. Each child will be partnered up with a Port Huron High football player or cheerleader who will serve as their mentor for the day. Jerseys, the national anthem, a marching band, the “whole 9 yards” has been planned to make this day special for players, mentors and parents alike.<\/p>\n
A mock defense will be set up by the Big Red’s varsity football team. Each child will have an opportunity to run or catch a pass for a touchdown with play-by-play announcing. After the game, each child will be presented with a medal to commemorate their victory while the Port Huron high school football team will serve hot dogs and drinks for the families after the event.<\/p>\n
In addition, this day is designed to inspire future leaders to pursue selfless, servant leadership. On Victory Day, the PHHS football team, cheerleaders and marching band will give back to their community by providing participants an opportunity to live and experience the activities of game day at Port Huron High.<\/p>\n
Aaron Segedi, a Trenton teacher and varsity football coach, founded Victory Day in 2010. A native of Riverview and a two-time cancer survivor, Segedi lives by the philosophy, that building character holds equal importance to teaching young leaders the game winning plays on the field. Since its launch, Victory Day has received attention from media and athletic programs throughout the state and country.<\/p>\n
