Earlier this summer, Port Huron Schools wanted to give stakeholders in the school system a better communication tool. Students, staff, parents, and community members were introduced to a service called Thoughtexchange. It was an online forum where thoughts about Port Huron Area Schools were shared anonymously. The recent question put forth on the exchange was developed by the district. Port Huron Schools asked the question, What are we doing well, and what are the priorities we should focus on for the future. Over 500 people shared their thoughts over the system. The team at thoughtexchange that set up the system said the Blue Water area outperformed many other communities in terms of participation. The results are enabling the school district to better understand the needs of community. 11 different themes surfaced that may require attention including: Classes\/Offerings, Support, Behavior, Teachers\/Staff, Facilities\/Safety, Curriculum, and Administrative Support just to name a few.Superintendent of Port Huron Schools, Jamie Cain said the themes were further broken down into groups of supportive or needs improvement.
