Today marks the 18th year since the attacks of September 11th that took the lives of 2977 people, injured approximately 6000, and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage. In the attacks, more than 90 countries had citizens that perished. The attacks were coordinated terrorist attacks by the islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda. Services of remembrance have taken place every year since the attacks. Ceremonies are held annually at the World Trade Center site, as well as the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
