Water safety is always a concern in our area given the amount of water that surrounds us. The City of Port Huron\u2019s fire department is taking steps to make sure it\u2019s first responders are properly trained to handle water emergencies. The City of Port Huron\u2019s Fire Department now has their own underwater rescue team. 12 firefighters completed the training, and were given pins at the Port Huron City Council meeting last night by Chief Corey Nicholson. He did note that they are not an underwater dive team, but they are trained to use scuba equipment. The 12 firefighters received 100 hours of training over the past 18 months.
