If you’ve taken a drive on I-94 East heading to Port Huron during the holiday season, it’s hard to miss the big holiday lights decorating the transmission tower. The festive lights will twinkle once again starting this week on November 16th and shine until January 4th. ITCs Michigan, which owns and operates the high-voltage electricity grid in Michigan\u2019s Lower Peninsula, is lighting up 9 other 150-foot tall transmission towers like the one seen in St. Clair County. Each of the 10 transmission towers are decorated with approximately one-third of a mile of rope lights which comes out to be 17,700 bulbs! Simon Whitelocke, president of ITC Michigan says that “The tower decorations have become a holiday tradition in Michigan. ITC is happy to join the communities they serve all across the Lower Peninsula in celebrating this festive time of the year.” Here in St. Clair County, there are not only one, but two towers that will shine brightly with a warm holiday greeting!
