The office of Community Oriented Policing Services has approved a $24,941 grant under the COP STOP School Violence: School Violence Prevention program to the Port Huron Police Department. The federal funds are awarded over a two year period to enhance school safety for Port Huron Schools. In March 2018, the Port Huron Police Department and Port Huron School District agreed on a 3 year pilot program for two Resource Officers to be assigned to both Port Huron high schools.
