To bring awareness March has been declared Brain Injury Awareness Month. In 2017, over 11,500 people in Michigan were hospitalized for a TBI. Among Michigan residents who died of an injury, 1,700 had a TBI listed as an underlying or contributing cause of death on the death certificate.
