Eighty-percent of long term care in the United States is provided by the approximately 44 million families and friends providing unpaid care to another adult. Caregiving is stressful, and puts caregivers at risk of neglecting taking care of themselves. McLaren Port Huron and the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Michigan will present Combating Caregiver Stress on Monday, March 12, 10 a.m. The program will take place in the 55 Plus Classroom in the McLaren Port Huron Jefferson Building. The class will help caregivers learn to recognize the signs of caregiver stress and its effect on their health. It will also explore ways to manage and reduce caregiver stress and how a caregiver’s daily tasks change as their person with dementia experiences brain changes. The program is free, but registration is required at mclaren.org/phevents
