Twice a year the Michigan Department of Natural Resources offers a free fishing weekend. The free fishing weekends scheduled for 2018 are February 17 and 18 and later in the year on June 9 and 10th. All fishing license fees will be waived for two days. Residents and out-of-state visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes’ waters for all species of fish. Although, all fishing regulations will still apply. Michigan offers more than 3,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, more than 11,000 inland lakes and tens of thousands of miles of rivers and streams. So grab a rod and your family and friends and go fishing!
