Several local school districts have earned bragging rights with having high schools named as 2020 Best High Schools by U.S. News and World Report. Of the 1,147 high schools in Michigan, two local high schools, Marysville and Marine City, made it into the top 100. St. Clair, Port Huron Northern, Capac, Yale, Algonac, and Port Huron High were also ranked in the top tier, which is the top 466 schools in the state. Memphis and Landmark Academy were ranked in the second tier of state high schools. The rankings are based on data from the 2017-18 school year. Graduation rates and college readiness are among the metrics used to rank, according to U.S. News and World Report. Marysville was noted as having a 62% participation rate in Advanced Placement exams, with Marine City at 50%.
