Students working toward the completion of a certificate or degree at St. Clair County Community College have access to a $1 million fund for emergency expenses. The college received $954,739 as part of the Federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The balance of the fund is from the college emergency scholarship fund. The aid is there for students and families who are experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic. The money can be used for more than just tuition. It can go toward housing, transportation, a student’s basic living needs like phone bills, internet access, and technology, childcare, and other costs associated with attending college. The emergency money does not affect existing financial aid and scholarships and is an additional award. Students can request assistance by filling out an online form at sc4.edu/CARES.
