The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is getting help from
ITC, the company that provides the infrastructure for the
power grid in most of the Midwest. The Food Bank is
working overtime lately as local residents are dealing with both an invisible virus and, sometimes, invisible
paychecks. Unemployment has skyrocketed and getting
food on the table is a struggle for many families. ITC has
given a $10,000 donation to the Food Bank to help cover
added expenses right now. The food bank is located in
Flint, but distributes to 22 counties, including the Blue
Water Area. As ITC addresses immediate hunger needs,
Simon Whitelocke, president of ITC Michigan, looked to
the future and the likelihood of trauma interventions when
he said, “We’re also assessing subsequent funding
opportunities to support organizations that provide critical
mental health and substance abuse services.” More
information about eligibility for future grants can be
found at itc-holdings.com.
