Every year, on Memorial Day weekend, the “Feast of Ste. Claire” presents a living re-enactment of 18th century life on the banks of the St. Clair River in Port Huron. This year is the 39th consecutive year for this informational and educational event. The Feast derives its name from the fact that the early 16th century French explorers discovered a Lake and a River on the Catholic Feast day of Saint Clare. In those days it was customary to name important discoveries in honor of saints – hence Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair River got named. The event is Open to the Public and consists of over 600 re-enactors with more than 100 colonial style camps set up in beautiful Pine Grove Park in Port Huron. The Feast of the Ste. Claire, celebrates the pageantry, history, and flavor of Michigan from 1750-1840!
Michigan history is brought to life with re-enactors living in historic-style camps demonstrating daily life of that time. Fun games and activities for all ages and delicious food round out the fun! Make sure to stop by this weekend for family-friendly fun of “historic” proportions!
