Nearly 43 million Americans will kick off the unofficial start of summer by traveling this Memorial Day weekend. According to AAA, this year is the second-highest travel volume on record since tracking began dating back in the year 2000, overshadowing the record set in 2005. An additional 1.5 million more people will take to the nation’s highways, railroads and runways compared with last year. That’s a 3.6% increase in travel.
