Smart Shelf, a Michigan‐based company started by brothers Dan and Ed Cass, has recently had their patented portable furniture platform licensed with the Walt Disney Company. Smart Shelf, located in St. Clair, Michigan, has its roots in the local community’s incubator program. Their journey began in 2015 and recently Smart Shelf was awarded three consecutive 1st Place wins for product competitions in 2017. All Smart Shelf products are Made‐In‐America. The Mickey Smart Shelf designs were expanded to fit into the new Disney Home Store product line and the launch of the 90th Anniversary of Mickey Mouse. Mickey Smart Shelf is part of a line of patented platform variations that in time will include several more interchangeable components, including wireless charging. Upon approval, Disney asked them to create four new designs of the Mickey Smart Shelf to be in line with their Disney Home Store product line that launched earlier this year.
