It’s no secret Michigan is abundant with outdoor activities from water sports to hiking and skiing but did you know that Michigan has over 12,500 miles of state-designated trails including 2,700 miles of rail trails such as the Wadhams to Avoca trail in St. Clair County, and a growing number of “transmission trails” such as those found in Novi, Canton and West Bloomfield. In recent years, ITC has partnered with urban communities where open space is at a premium to develop recreational trails in its electricity transmission corridors that offer hikers, bikers, nature enthusiasts and others the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy nature. ITC is encouraging local residents to get out for Michigan Trails Week, September 22nd through the 29th, to enjoy all of our state’s beauty. ITC, the largest independent electricity transmission company in the United States, is headquartered right here in Michigan. ITC invests in the grid to ensure safe and reliable transmission service that supports new sources of generation, more affordable electricity and economic growth.
