On June 26th the St. Clair County Health Department held a blood lead level screening clinic at the Harrison Center. Approximately 700 residents received blood lead screenings. Of those preliminary screens, 5% came back elevated. Some elevated screens were from residents who lived outside the area of interest. The Health Department has contacted those with elevated levels. If you attended the screening and were not contacted, your levels were not elevated. The next step for those with an elevated result is to get a confirmatory venous blood draw test. Those with an elevated blood lead level have been given an order to the laboratory of their choice for confirmatory blood testing. The Health Department is urging those who were screened to follow up on their testing. To contact the Health Department call 810-966-4160
